Halle Berry Loses Custody Battle to Bring Daughter to France

Halle Berry has to postpone her intention to permanently bring her daughter Nahla Ariela Aubry to Paris, France to stay with her and fiance Olivier Martinez. On November 9, a Los Angeles judge rejected her request to move the 4-year-old girl to the City of Light. The actress had been in a custody battle with her former boyfriend and Nahla's father, Gabriel Aubry.

Halle chose France as their new home because she believed that the country is safer for her loved ones while Los Angeles paparazzi made them live uncomfortably in California. The 46-year-old actress denied that she tried to remove Gabriel from Nahla's life. Hoping to stay in touch with his daughter, Gabriel was against the request.

"It's the appeal of privacy and a greater sense of safety for Nahla," the "Perfect Stranger" actress told InStyle about the reason why she wanted to move her kid. "I don't want her to grow up around the tabloids. Because we are followed all the time, she is starting to feel like she is somehow special, and of course she is, but I want her to understand that she's special because of who she is, not because she was born into this celebrity blender."

The "X-Men: The Last Stand" star broke up with Gabriel on April 30, 2010. The ex-couple then fought over their only daughter's custody in the middle of Halle's tight filming schedule. In April 2011, they reached a win-win solution with the help of a judge without detailing the result.

"When there's a child involved, it's a relief when you can resolve things in a good way," she said at the time. "Our issues were never about fighting for her. We both know a child needs both parents. But what I want to say about it is sometimes, as a couple, you reach an impasse. We needed a court and a judge to help us work out some of the delicate issues, and I'm so happy we've reached at that place."

Halle Berry oozed sexiness at the premiere of "Cloud Atlas". The Oscar-winning actress became the belle of the ball during the promotional event taking place at the Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles, while stealing the attention with her daring yet glamorous look.

The Luisa Rey depicter in the upcoming sci-fi film donned a Dolce&Gabbana silver bustier dress that exposed her slim figure and bared her firm legs. She put on a pair of matching drop earrings and silver heels to finish off her flawless look. She made her pixie hair a bit messy but managed to kept it stylish.

Joining Berry on the black carpet was lead actor Tom Hanks who brought along his wife Rita Wilson. Hanks looked very sleek in a gray suit, while his leading lady looked equally elegant in a skin-tight LBD. Jim Sturgess, Jim Broadbent and James D'Arcy were the other male cast members spotted attending the Wednesday night, October 24 event.

Also on hand to support the special screening show were Susan Sarandon who kept it simple in an all-white ensemble, Georgia King who looked fresh in a cream-colored cocktail dress, and Doona Bae who opted for an all-black number. Keanu Reeves also hit the black carpet, looking casual in a black shirt under his blazer that he paired with brown leather shoes.

"Cloud Atlas" follows the stories of some people in different settings. They include a reluctant voyager who crosses the Pacific in 1850, and a disinherited composer who has a precarious livelihood in between-the-wars Belgium.

A high-minded journalist in Governor Reagan's California, a vanity publisher fleeing his gangland creditors, a genetically modified "dinery server" on death-row, and a young Pacific Islander witnessing the nightfall of science and civilization are the other characters involved in the storyline.

The movie, directed by Tom Tykwer, Andy Wachowski and Lana Wachowski, will arrive in the U.S. cinemas on Friday, October 26.

Gerard Butler is seen playing a hot-headed leprechaun who is seized by Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott. Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber make fun of their nerdy son, while Anna Faris is seen sharing an awkward scene with her real-life husband Chris Pratt.

The star-studded comedy is composed of 25 short comedy segments. In addition to those stars mentioned above, the film has Chloe Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Hugh Jackman, Justin Long, Sam Rockwell, Elizabeth Banks, Tony Shalhoub, Kieran Culkin, Uma Thurman, Kristen Bell, Kate Bosworth and Richard Gere lining up in the cast ensemble.

Serving behind the lens are Elizabeth Banks, Peter Farrelly, Bob Odenkirk, Griffin Dunne and Brett Ratner, while Rocky Russo and Jeremy Sosenko pen the script. The movie is set for a January 25, 2013 release across the United States.
