How Clint Eastwood will look like for his acting comeback in "Trouble with the Curve" has been uncovered in a newly released still. Being dropped via Entertainment Weekly, the image also unveils a first look at Justin Timberlake as Eastwood's pal in the baseball drama.
Eastwood and Timberlake are pictured sharing some buddy-time as they enjoy some cigars and beverages at a bar. Eastwood plays Gus, an aging Atlanta Braves scout with vision problems, while Timberlake portrays Johnny, a rival young scout who later develops respect for Gus.
Explaining Gus and Johnny's bromance, director Robert Lorenz said, "They're friendly. When Johnny was a ballplayer, Gus scouted him." Lorenz added that Johnny often helps Gus overcome his problems with his daughter. "At every moment she's ready to throw it in, Justin's character is there to sort of remind her of the value of continuing to pursue their relationship," he said.
Aside from Eastwood and Timberlake's first look, EW posted another still that shows the veteran actor walking on a baseball court with his on-screen daughter, played by Amy Adams. Of the father-daughter relationship, Lorenz said, "He gets his chance to prove whether he still has value as a scout - and as a dad."
"They're having trouble communicating," the director continued. "They always have, and now they've come to a point in the relationship where it's either going to change or it's not. He needs a little help, and she decides it's worth the effort."
"Trouble with the Curve" will mark Eastwood's first acting stint since 2008's "Gran Torino". At that time, the 81-year-old thesp said the movie would likely become his last acting stint. However, he hinted that he might consider to return someday. "You never know when I'll be back... ," he stated.
Focusing on an aging baseball scout who is losing his sight, and is heading on a last road trip to Atlanta with his daughter to scout a hotshot prospect, "Trouble with the Curve" will open in the U.S. on September 28. Serving as the screenwriter is Randy Brown.
