"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" continues to add another actor to its cast ensemble. A few days after casting Lynn Cohen as Finnick Odair's mentor Mags, the sequel to "The Hunger Games" has found a perfect actor to take on the part of Romulus Thread.
Variety confirms that "Sons of Anarchy" star Patrick St. Esprit has been tapped to play Romulus. The character himself is described as Cray's replacement as the Head Peacekeeper of District 12.
As explained in the Suzanne Collins novel, Romulus makes major changes in District 12 by adding new gallows, stocks and a whipping post. He also burns down the Hob, which is District 12's black market.
In another news related to "Catching Fire", The Hollywood Reporter has learned that leading actress Jennifer Lawrence is in the final stages of negotiating a major salary raise for her work in the sequel. While in the first film she got $500,000 plus bonuses, Lawrence is expected to be paid around $10 million in the follow-up film.
The figure is a combination of salary, bonuses and escalators and can raise even higher if "Catching Fire" performs well on box office. Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, who play Peeta Mellark and Gale Hawthorne respectively, are also said to have renegotiated their contracts. However, the two actors will receive smaller salaries compared to Lawrence's.
"Catching Fire" will kick off its filming in Georgia this September. Francis Lawrence serves behind the lens, while Oscar winner Simon Beaufoy writes the script. Also supporting the film are Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee, Jena Malone as Johanna Mason, and Amanda Plummer as Wiress.
The second installment of the "Hunger Games" film series will be dropped in the U.S. on November 22, 2013. In it, Katniss and Peeta will be forced to compete in a special 75th staging of the Hunger Games, where they must fight against past winners.
