NBC could start a new story of Cleopatra. After a reported competitive bid with another network, the Peacock has landed a period drama titled "Cleopatra" from one of the men behind "Transformers" film series, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, with a put pilot commitment.

The new project is said to be "an epic romance set in a world of sorcery, gods and monsters that centers on Cleopatra, Mark Antony and Julius Caesar." According to Deadline, the story follows the titular queen as she "makes a sacred pact with a goddess to win back her throne, igniting a curse and an infamous love triangle that changes the course of history, forever ending the 4,000 year dominion of the Pharaoh."

"Cleopatra" is being developed at ABC Studios with Michael Seitzman penning the script. He also serves as executive producer alongside di Bonaventura and Dan McDermott.

The story of Cleopatra has been adapted into several works, including Elizabeth Taylor's 1963 movie. A new Cleopatra film is being developed at Sony with David Fincher attached to direct and Angelina Jolie to take the titular role.
