Nicole Kidman is about to add more award on her resume. The Oscar-winning actress is set to be honored with a gala tribute during the 50th Annual New York Film Festival on October 3, the Film Society of Lincoln Center has announced. Her latest movie "The Paperboy" is also included in the festival's main slate.

Of why the NYFF chose Kidman as the honoree, the festival director Richard Pena said, "Nicole Kidman is one of film's finest contemporary actresses." He went on praising the Australian actress for her performances in several critically-acclaimed feature films.

"Since her breakthrough performance in 'To Die For' and her bold and provocatice appearances in Lars Von Trier's 'Dogville', Stanley Kubrick's 'Eyes Wide Shut' as well as her award-winning portrayal of Virginia Woolf in Stephen Daldry's 'The Hours', Kidman has insisted on finding roles that are complex, bold and demanding. We are excited to honor her with a tribute at the New York Film Festival."

Pena himself is also set to receive a special honor during the upcoming event. He will get a gala tribute on October 10 for his dedication as the Program Director of the Film Society of Lincoln Center and the Director of the New York Film Festival since 1988.

This year's New York Film Festival will run from September 28 to October 14. The prestigious fest will highlight the best in world cinema and feature top films from celebrated filmmakers as well as fresh talents. Serving as the opener will be Ang Lee's "Life of Pi", which will mark the first time ever a 3D movie being chosen to open the event.
