Though Walt Disney Pictures/Marvel Studios has already released an official synopsis for "Thor: The Dark World",
specific plot details of the film's major characters are still kept
under tight wraps. However, English stuntman/actor and current Marvel
employee Andrew Lawden recently dropped some spoilerish scoops from the
"Thor" sequel, including what is Loki's role in the film and details on a character's death.
During a chat with Bombad Radio, Lawden explained how [SPOILER ALERT!]
Thor's reunion with Jane Foster would lead to a troublesome chain of
events in Asgard. "Thor becomes reunited with Jane who becomes
possessed by a Dark Spirit, which is connected with the Dark Elves; a
race the Asgardians have fallen out with many years beforehand," so he
said, as quoted by Screen Rant.
"The Dark Elves attack Asgard, and they take a huge hit. So Thor has to
rebuild Asgard by putting together an army to go and take the battle to
the Dark Elves and defeat them," he added. "But the only way he can do
this is - he needs to cross over to the Dark World, and the only person
who has access to the dark side of Asgard is his old brother Loki, who
at the beginning of the film is locked up in prison."
He went on revealing more spoilers, "So what happens is Thor basically
has to negotiate this truce with Loki, and he goes on this great trek
with Jane, all three of them. They go to this far side of Asgard, which
is being shot in Iceland, where they train and assemble an army to go
and attack the Dark Elves' world."
Furthermore, Lawden opened up that there's something personal that made
the hammer-weilding demigod want to seek revenge on the Dark Elves. He
spilled, "But the exclusive twist... is that one of the things that
happens during the Asgardian attack is that Thor's mother gets killed."
"So it becomes like a vengeance thing," so he reportedly stated. "And
they were keeping very tight-lipped about what actually happens with
Loki, you don't know whether he redeems himself or he's still the bad
egg."
Should the rumor be true, this will confirm previous swirling report suggesting that a major character will bite the dust
in "Thor 2". Back in September, a source told Bleeding Cool that "one
of the main characters in The Dark World is going to be killed off
before the end credits roll."
The exact details of "Thor 2" will not be officially revealed until the movie hits the U.S. theaters on November 8, 2013. Chris Hemsworth will be back as the titular hero, joined by Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Kat Dennings, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins, Stellan Skarsgard, Zachary Levi and Christopher Eccleston.
