Katy Perry Celebrates Birthday in Costume Party With John Mayer

Katy Perry threw an early birthday party on Friday, October 19 in Los Angeles. The West Coast pop singer, who will turn 28 on October 25, was joined by her rocker boyfriend, John Mayer, as she hosted a star-studded costume party at the famed Magic Castle.

Katy dressed up as a sexy blood sucker in a white lace sheer dress. She finished off her vampiric look with fake fangs, a necklace with a giant cross, red-tinted nail polish, and a crown. Her beau wore a bullet belt and rocked a prosthetic nose and chin as the undead hunter.

The guests included Kristen Stewart and Neil Patrick Harris. The "Twilight Saga" actress attended the bash with Robert Pattinson's friend Marcus Foster, while the "How I Met Your Mother" actor was accompanied by his partner David Burtka.

K-Stew opted for a casual number, while Neil dressed up as a vampire. "Thank you @KatyPerry for having @DavidBurtka and me at your frightfully fun B'day Bash at the @MagicCastle last night," the Barney depicter tweeted along with a picture from the party.

Earlier this month, John celebrated his 35th birthday with Katy in a more low-key outing. The "Your Body Is a Wonderland" hitmaker took his girlfriend, his family and some of his close friends to the Freemans restaurant on Manhattan's Lower East Side for a dinner.

Johnny Lewis' Ex-Girlfriend Katy Perry Saddened by His Death

Katy Perry, who dated Johnny Lewis in 2006, mourns the death of the "Sons of Anarchy" actor. "She had to separate from him . . . to get ahead and focus on her career," a source tells Us Weekly. "He was in trouble then and she couldn't help him. A lot of her songs were partially inspired by him."

"I know 'The One That Got Away' and 'Circle the Drain' are partly about him, as well as Travis [McCoy of Gym Class Heroes]. But she was young and it was a time in her life she cherishes," the source adds. "They had good times. It's really sad. She could never help him and couldn't [let herself] go in that direction."

28-year-old Johnny was found dead in the driveway of a Los Angeles home on Wednesday, September 26. Before his death, he reportedly had an altercation with some neighbors and killed his landlady, an 81-year-old woman named Catherine Davis. Glass was shattered and a dead cat was found inside the house.

Johnny played prospect biker Kip "Half-Sack" Epps on the FX series. He continued to appear on the show until the finale of the second season where he was stabbed to death. Creator Kurt Sutter once said he wrote Johnny off the story due to creative differences. He sent condolence soon after learning about the actor's real-life death.

"Not sure if folks know this yet, but johnny lewis (halfsack) died last night. the sad irony of it happening two days after opie's death is not lost on me," he wrote on his WhoSay page. "It was a tragic end for an extremely talented guy, who unfortunately had lost his way."

"I wish i could say that i was shocked by the events last night, but i was not. i am deeply sorry that an innocent life had to be thrown into his destructive path. yes, it's day or mourning, but it's also a day of awareness and gratitude. sadly, some of us carry the message by dying."

According to a "Sons of Anarchy" insider, his former co-stars, despite knowing about his troubled past, were all in shock when they heard about his sudden passing. "It wasn't a secret that Johnny had issues he was dealing with. No one could have expected it would end so tragically, though," the source told E! News.

Tia Barr, who played Cara on "SOA", remembered Johnny, "The first scene I ever acted in on the 3rd episode of Season 1 of Sons of Anarchy was with Johnny Lewis. He was such a friendly, handsome young man. So sad to loose (sic) such a great actor at such a young age. RIP Johnny aka Half Sack... You will be missed."

Kristen Renton (Ima) tweeted, "I had known Johnny Lewis for over 10 years...I have no words to describe what I am feeling right now. So tragic and unnecessary." Other supporting/recurring cast like Emilio Rivera (Marcus Alvarez) and LaMonica Garrett (Deputy Sheriff Cane) also posted somber notes in the wake of his death.

His actress friend, Shannon Woodward, wrote, "Johnny, I love you deeply and madly and always. My heart is broken in a million little pieces. I will miss you every day. Johnny Lewis was one of my best friends." She also said, "He was very, very ill. His actions were a despicable result of that. It was not who he was," before adding, "My thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences are with the friends and family of Catherine Davis."

Haylie Duff, who worked with Johnny on "Raise Your Voice", expressed her remorse as well, "So sad to hear the news about Johnny. Such a nice and talented guy. RIP." His former co-star on "The O.C.", Kayla Ewell, additionally posted, "The Johnny Lewis I knew was a charismatic, captivating guy. Let's remember the good times. RIP."

In addition to being unemployed, Johnny sparked concerns over his mental issue and had several trips to jail due to his numerous runs-in with the law including an assault with a deadly weapon and an attempted burglary. He was also dealing with a custody battle of his child.

"He had a child. He was not married to the mother but he talked about his child. I can't remember if it was a son or daughter but he was definitely a dad. The child was a baby at the time we shoot the movie, in 2010," said Monty Fisher, a producer for his movie "186 Days".

 

Katy Perry to Be Honored With Billboard's Woman of the Year Prize

Katy Perry is set to add another award to her resume. The Californian pop sensation will be honored with the Woman of the Year prize at this year's Billboard Women in Music event, which is set to take place in New York on Friday, November 30.

Video: Katy Perry Breaks One Direction's Best Pop Video Trophy

There was a minor accident at 2012 MTV Video Music Awards when Katy Perry handed One Direction their Best Pop Video prize. The West Coast artist accidentally sent the Moonman's flag flying across the floor when she congratulated the five British boys with a kiss.

Katy kissed Niall Horan first before moving to Harry Styles. Every time she moved from one boy to another, she made a gesture with her hand, which held the Moonman, to give the next boy a room for a kiss. It went well until she swang the trophy a little too fast when moving to kiss Liam Payne.

The incident didn't dampen the boys' spirit though. "Wow, thank you very much Katy. Thanks for the kiss. Thank you so much. We've grown up watching this show. And to even be here is an honor and to collect one of these is absolutely incredible," Niall said while proudly showing off the trophy to the crowd.

Liam, who held the broken flag, cracked a joke about it, "I just want to say we've had this award for two seconds and already we broke it so there's a good start." Regardless, he gushed, "It's amazing to be here. I also want to say a massive thank you to our team backstage."

One Direction won a total of three awards at the event, leading the full winner list. Their two other prizes were Most Share-Worthy Video for "What Makes You Beautiful" and Best New Artist. They also performed one of their hit singles "One Thing" live.

Katy Perry Allegedly Rejects $20 Million Offer From 'American Idol'

Katy Perry can now be removed from the list of potential "American Idol" judges. The "Wide Awake" songstress is said to have turned down a $20 million offer from the show's producers to take the much-talked-about gig.

"She was being hotly pursued. They really wanted her," a source tells Us Weekly. Nonetheless, the California-born singer has reportedly rejected the offer, which could give her $2 million more than Mariah Carey allegedly earns with her own one-year contract.

Another artist, Miley Cyrus, is allegedly also no longer in the run of becoming a judge on the veteran singing competition. Per E! Online's report, the former Disney star was indeed approached to fill one of the empty seats on the judges table, but the talks "never went far" and the singer/actress "never seriously considered it."

So far, only Carey who has been confirmed to join the 12th cycle of "Idol" as a judge. Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban were recently said to be close to seal their deals, but FOX hasn't made the official announcement just yet.

Katy Perry and Russell Brand Officially Single Again

Katy Perry and Russell Brand are officially back on the market again. E! News reported that the former couple, who announced their separation last December after the British funnyman submitted his filing, has legally split up.

Katy and Russell got married in fall 2010. Although having no prenuptial agreement, they kept their divorce civil by signing an agreement in February. Per California law, they had to wait for six months for the union to be officially dissolved.

After the split, Katy was romantically linked to Florence and the Machine' guitarist Robert Ackroyd. The pop star was caught on camera packing PDA with the British musician at Coachella Music Festival in Indio, California last summer.

Russell, meanwhile, made it clear in several occasions that he's reluctant to talk about Katy. In a recent filming of his talk show "Brand X", he reportedly cut short the topic about his ex-wife by shouting, "Enough of you. I've had enough a**-ache from people called Katy in the last year."

Prior to expressing his annoyance, "Russell was bantering with the audience, in particular a couple called Curtis and Katy. He got onto the subject of their sex life. Katy was giving as good as she got," a source told the Daily Star.

After shouting, the "Get Him to the Greek" star allegedly "laughed and shouted: 'Oh no, there might be a journalist in the room.' He shrugged his shoulders and murmured: 'Oh well,' before moving onto his next subject."

Katy Perry threw a special performance on a colorful stage at Pepsi and Billboard's Summer Beats live series in Hollywood on Tuesday, June 26. Katy took the stage and cheered the crowd with an 8-song set as part of the premiere event of her upcoming movie "Katy Perry: Part of Me".

Swapping her sexy red velvet gown with an elaborate movie-themed costume, the "Firework" hitmaker greeted her fans who gathered around the Hollywood Boulevard, "Hollywood, I'm gonna be your teenage dream tonight!" She then delivered her hit singles, such as "I Kissed a Girl", "Part of Me" and the latest one, "Wide Awake". As a closing number, the pop sensation opted to perform "California Gurls".

After kicking off in Hollywood, Summer Beats will be held in Nashville in late July as well as in New York in late August. Performers for the upcoming shows will be announced at a later date.

As for Katy, her upcoming 3D concert movie will be released nationwide on July 5. Of the documentary film, the estranged wife of Russell Brand said, "I hope that it inspires people to absolutely live out their dreams, no matter what obstacles they might face."
