'American Idol' Bosses Call Reporting on Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey Feud 'Inaccurate'

"American Idol" producers have spoken up following the much blown-out feud between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey. In a statement, the show's execs claim, "Despite all the accusations and media speculation - much of which is inaccurate - production is going extremely well today and the judges are focused on finding the best talent here in Baton Rouge."

Singing praise for the current judges, the producers add, "This is one of the best, most passionate, dynamic and invested judging panels we've ever had." They further gush, "We love and support all of the judges and the fantastic work they are doing, and we can't imagine a better group to find the next American Idol."

Nicki was recently caught on a video snapping at fellow judge Mariah during the auditions in Charlotte, North Carolina. "I told them, I'm not f***in' putting up with her f***in' highness over there," she ranted. The production was wrapped up earlier that day, but resumed the next day.

On "The View", host Barbara Walters revealed that Mariah told her Nicki threatened to shoot the wife of Nick Cannon. "Nicki walked off the set and multiple people heard Nicki say, 'If I had a gun I would shoot the b***h'," Barbara told her audience.

The Harajuku Barbie later addressed the claim made by Barbara as tweeting, "I don't call tmz n Barbara Walters cuz I stand on my own two feet. Never needed an army. God is good. Insecurity is as cruel as the grave." She continued, "I guess it hurts 2 have the producers tell u to ur face that nicki is the best judge we've had since simon. Awww, poor u. Keep them lies cmn."

 

Katy Perry Allegedly Rejects $20 Million Offer From 'American Idol'

Katy Perry can now be removed from the list of potential "American Idol" judges. The "Wide Awake" songstress is said to have turned down a $20 million offer from the show's producers to take the much-talked-about gig.

"She was being hotly pursued. They really wanted her," a source tells Us Weekly. Nonetheless, the California-born singer has reportedly rejected the offer, which could give her $2 million more than Mariah Carey allegedly earns with her own one-year contract.

Another artist, Miley Cyrus, is allegedly also no longer in the run of becoming a judge on the veteran singing competition. Per E! Online's report, the former Disney star was indeed approached to fill one of the empty seats on the judges table, but the talks "never went far" and the singer/actress "never seriously considered it."

So far, only Carey who has been confirmed to join the 12th cycle of "Idol" as a judge. Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban were recently said to be close to seal their deals, but FOX hasn't made the official announcement just yet.

Nick Jonas and Pharrell Williams Allegedly Frontrunners to Be 'American Idol' Judges

Nick Jonas and Pharrell Williams could join Mariah Carey in the upcoming twelfth season of "American Idol". Words on the street are, the two artists are the frontrunners to fill the two vacant seats on the judging panel, with an assumption that Randy Jackson is moved into a mentoring role.

"Nick is pretty close to signing to be the Idol judge," a so-called insider tells Us Weekly, which previously got the scoop about Carey's possible involvement. The source adds, "They flew him in to L.A. last week for final meetings," as the show's producers allegedly "think he can help bring that younger demo to the show."

While the Jonas Brothers member is reportedly close to seal the deal, Williams is still negotiating terms of his contract. "Everything is looking good, but they're still working out details," the insider says of the contract negotiations.

Prior to Jonas and Williams, Brad Paisley, Adam Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks and Clay Aiken were also rumored to join the show. FOX has not commented on the reports.

"American Idol" season 12 will kick off in early 2013. Carey was tapped as a new judge after Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez announced their departures earlier this July.

'American Idol': Jennifer Lopez Reveals Steven Tyler's Exit Plays Role in Her Departure

Jennifer Lopez has revealed another reason why she bowed out of "American Idol". After saying that taking the judging role "gets more complicated as the kids get a little bigger," the Latino songstress admitted that Steven Tyler's departure solidified her decision to end her gig on the reality show.

"We had magic," she told ABC News' Amy Robach who interviewed her and her touring partner Enrique Iglesias in Montreal, Canada on Sunday, July 15. "I don't know, with him gone, it might be a different formula," the 42-year-old singer/actress added.

Claiming it's hard for her to walk away from the show, the mother of two had some suggestions for new judges. "I think like Bono or Bon Jovi or Mick Jagger," she stated. When asked if he would replace J.Lo on "Idol", Enrique who sat next to her quickly replied, "I wouldn't be a good judge. It's a lot of pressure, just thinking about, 'Oh my god, I just ruined this person's career.' "

Preview of Robach's interview with J.Lo was played on "Good Morning America" on Monday, while the complete conversation will air on Tuesday.

On another show, "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno", Charlie Sheen addressed report about him being wanted on "Idol". Though he had mentioned several conditions that must be met before he signed up, the "Anger Management" actor made it clear that he has not been approached by the show's producers.

"I had never thought about it, and I heard it on the news, so I thought I'd better respond to that," he admitted. "I came up with my terms... and I'm waiting to hear back." He further claimed that he could be a good judge, jokingly adding, "I could be helpful and give these kids some guidance without leading them to suicide."

Meanwhile, responding to a rumor that Mariah Carey is also courted to be a new judge, her husband Nick Cannon said he didn't think "Idol" could afford to pay her. "That's a lot of money. If they gave J.Lo $20 million, they might have to double that!" the "America's Got Talent" host told TMZ.

'American Idol': Randy Jackson Might Be Mentoring, Mariah Carey Could Be Brought in

Jennifer Lopez is allegedly not the only one who's on the brink of following Steven Tyler's footsteps. Latest report on "American Idol" shake-up says that Randy Jackson is also going to step down from his role as a judge, which he has tackled since the first season.

"[Show producers] think they need to freshen everything up now," a source tells Us Weekly about the producers' move. The musician/record producer, however, may still be part of the singing competition as the source adds, "And they will move Randy into a more mentoring role."

To fill the empty spot, the producers are reportedly "in serious talks" with Mariah Carey to have her as a new judge. Claiming that the "Obsessed" hitmaker is close to sign up for the reality series, the source gushes that "it's very close to being a done deal."

While Jackson's and Lopez's future on the show remains unclear, Tyler has officially announced that he wouldn't return to the upcoming thirteenth season. "After some long...hard...thoughts...I've decided it's time for me to let go of my mistress American Idol before she boils my rabbit," he said in a statement, explaining that he would be next occupied with his project with Aerosmith.

In addition to Carey, other names who have been mentioned as possible new judges are Adam Lambert, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, will.i.am and Stacy Ferguson, while Katy Perry has made it clear that she would not be able to take the job.
