Ahead of their upcoming concert in Azerbaijan, Rihanna and Shakira received a letter each from Amnesty International and Sing for Democracy. Before deciding to move forward with their plan to perform, they were asked by the two non-profit organizations to take into consideration the human right abuses inflicted on the people in the country.

"Stadiums may cheer for internationally renowned recording artists like Rihanna and Shakira, but citizens within the European country do not enjoy such freedom of expression and are often persecuted when attempting to speak out," they said in a press release. "Today, many Azerbaijani journalists, bloggers and political activists have been arrested and persecuted multiple times."

They cited "the spurious criminal case against photo-journalist Mehman Huseynov on trumped up hooliganism charges" as an example. They concluded, "Amnesty International believes that the Azerbaijani government should afford all artists, journalists, activists and ordinary citizens the right to express themselves freely without fear of reprisal. We hope that you share our belief."

The two singers are scheduled to perform in Baku during the current FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2012. They haven't given immediate responses to the letter. Riri herself recently hyped up the upcoming gig in an enthusiastic tweet, "Baku!!!!! I'm here!!!! I can't believe this is really happening!!"

"The thing is, I never know what's going to be kept, what she's going to hold onto, what's going to fall by the wayside... I know I got one or two on the album that she's definitely keeping, but the rest is to be determined."

Reports that Riri is going to release a new album first emerged when Def Jam tweeted that the "We Found Love" hitmaker would drop her seventh studio album this November. Def Jam additionally promised to Riri's devotees that there would be a big announcement from the R&B sensation sometime soon.

The "Umbrella" singing sensation has previously teamed up with Ne-Yo on her 2007 hit single "Hate That I Love You". Ne-Yo also co-wrote her songs "Take a Bow" and "Stupid in Love". The "Sexy Love" hitmaker reportedly also collaborated with Riri in 2010 for a song that has never been released.

Calling the album "a celebration of my first love, which is music," the Grammy-winning artist gushed, "My album is a declaration of the blurring of the lines. This is the most balanced alvum that I've ever done. My diehard R&B fans as well as my diehard pop fans, everybody's gonna be able to get into this album because it is an equal balance of both genres."

Rihanna and Chris Brown caused a buzz on the night of 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. Not only did the former couple win coveted prizes for Video of the Year and Best Male Video respectively but they were also caught on camera kissing and hugging each other.

Riri and Breezy's friendly encounter happened when she returned to her seat after accepting her award. The Bajan songstress stopped in front of her ex-boyfriend and gave him a quick kiss and hug before greeting Akon's brother, Bu Thiam, who's also a VIP of A&R at her label Def Jam.

Riri sat on the front row next to her beastie Katy Perry, seven seats apart from Breezy, during the event taking place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on September 6. Her former fling Drake, along with Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne and Taylor Swift, were also seated on the same row.

When sitting down with Oprah Winfrey recently, Riri admitted it was hard for her to see Chris again because she still had feelings for him. "It's awkward because I still love him...my stomach drops and I have to maintain this poker face and not let it get to the outer part of me. I have to maintain that and suppress it," she said.

"We have maintained a very close friendship ever since the restraining order was dropped," she additionally said. "We're very, very close friends. We built a trust again and that's it. We love each other and we probably always will, and that's not anything that we're going to try to change."
